If your business is like a few entrepreneurial organizations, the success quotient has something to do with the available pipeline opportunities. You should have enough in the pipeline all the time, and rest assured, the revenue will follow no matter what the timing of the deals is. Well, if this were that easy, everyone would be doing it. Well, everyone is not doing it. There are certain time and activity management issues that may get into the way of entrepreneurial teams trying to maximize their pipe.
Do not make the wrong communication choices: A few entrepreneurs do not love the telephone and oscillate towards the email as their primary source of communication. However, you should not forget the power of the phone. With a call, you can convey a higher level of commitment and interest as compared to an email. If you follow up to a great prospect, do not go for the email. Opt for the phone instead. A phone call is more powerful as well as more convenient while making a sale.
Do not tolerate disorganization: If you are into sales, with a lot of potential clients, it might be a little hard to track the status of all the clients at the same time. A lot of sales people do not use the great tools that are available to them such as the calendar follow up calls and others. This will make you act spontaneously when you have particular prospects in mind. It is tough to find revenue for leaving it to that level of randomness especially when it is easy to remind yourself of the actions that need to be taken.
Do not let operational details interfere with sales: In the entrepreneur based companies, key managers are required to handle a lot of jobs such as customer service, selling and administrative chores. Some managers are more used to focus on customer services as they are tensed about the crucial things falling between the cracks. If that is the case, sales take a backseat which may lead to imminent downfall. If you are interested in sales and love selling things, then you should get out of the way and trust your team in their jobs.
The team can have your back: Rely on people and trust them to hold you accountable for doing the things which move your business forward. They should call out to you if you come in the way of things which interfere with their mission.
