There is a misconception in most people’s mind that an extrovert person can only become a good networker. Although an extrovert might be best for meeting people, but an introvert person is best for networking purpose. They can properly communicate their ideas and at the same time form meaningful relations. According to my experience, introvert individuals tends to be a better listener and can ask few questions which are considered as an important factor for knowing a person and their business but generally the introverts remove themselves from the advantages that are related to networking and building new relations as they are not comfortable in starting the conversation.
You can consider me as an example. One evening, when I was having dinner I mentioned to my wife something about myself as an extrovert. She stared at me for a while and said that “I do not want to break your thoughts, but according to me you are an introvert. By listening to her answer I asked if I am an introvert, how can I be a good networker? I kept on asking her and she also kept on saying that I was an introvert, so I decided to search online. In online I did a personality test. During the personality test I found that I am an extrovert who is not comfortable with the strangers but it also showed that I am on moving a correct path.
It surprised me and after that I began the networking organization after three decades as I was not comfortable in meeting with people. I realized that more close approaches related with the building a network offered me the chance to meet new people in a systematic manner that did not need that I really have a conversation with the strangers. Although there are several techniques that can prove to be helpful in making the networking easier for the introverts, here are few things that can help you in meeting new people and will also help you in building valuable relations. The first important thing that should be kept in mind is you should be an ambassador. If you are not comfortable with meeting new people in a business meeting, you can play the role of a representative for that particular group. Another important thing that should be kept in mind is to get involved in the business. You can helping organizing committees, recruit volunteers etc.
