Inventor Finds Business In Toys

Back in the year of the mid 1970, the creator of toy named as Mary Doherty Ellroy was in the graduate business school, where she was asked to visualize her goal. When she gave the answer most of the people present there was a little bit surprised. Unlike the other MBA candidates who acquired great posts in good companies like IBM, Ellroy imagined that working with an ad agency that promoted toys and games will be interesting.

She said that “I guess that I know the things that I want to do, even then I did not realize it. She went to work in the corporate world, where she worked in the marketing department for a telephone company for nearly a decade, yet she managed to retain her dream to combine the business skills with thing that was imaginative and finally she did. Today, Ellroy who has reached 50 and lives in Norwalk, Conn not only has on career but two.

She has become an inventor of games and toys, with more than 36 products on the market in which the perennially selling Great States, a geographical game meant for the elementary school children were included. On the other hand she also works as contract inventor for the different companies making products based on the licensed characters like Hannah Montana. Additionally, the company of Ellroy named as Gamebird had developed a new profession in the recent years as a creative advisor, an agent and also as a consultant for other game and toy creators that will help others in turning their inspirations into the products of the marketplace.

For Ellroy, the consulting work that she does is satisfying as it enables her to leverage what she has learned from her own experience about how to make her dream into reality. She likes to mentor creative people. Jane Pollak , who was an artist who has now turned to a coach in the business says that Ellroy is a main example of what it needs to design out a successful second career in the creative field. Pollak says that she is very smart but the best quality in her is the resiliency and the tenacity. When she started the toy business she suffered from several disappointments but she managed to overcome them with hard work and determination.
